I met my wife by playing my trumpet in the New York City subway. Or more accurately, I met someone in the subway who introduced me to someone else who introduced me to my wife. But the fun fact part is that if I wasn’t playing in the subway, I wouldn’t have met my wife.

When Elijah met the prophets of Baal and showed them who was really God, and when Shad, Mesch and Abed walked through the fiery furnace and showed them who God really was. Taking your Faith Home
The Library team has gathered many materials related to the Reformation and they are
available in a special section of the library. These items will have Luther’s seal attached.

In addition, look for this seal throughout the [March/April issue of]Transcripts to see things that relate in some way to Luther or the Reformation.

We will be holding a book fair March 12-26 which will include children’s books for Easter and beyond and Reformation-related books at cost to you because of a generous offer from 1517media. The Book Fair will be in Fellowship Hall.

Music at TLC
The lengthening days remind us that Lent is upon us: Ash Wednesday was March 1st, and our journey to the Cross on Good Friday, April 14, and our celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 16, won’t be far behind. Along with singing the Holden Evening Prayer at 6:15 p.m. each Wednesday in Lent (beginning March 8), we will have guest preachers from the Bloomington ELCA Lutheran Churches who will highlight parts of Martin Luther’s Catechism in their sermons (also at noon each Wednesday), as we begin the 500th year since Luther’s historic acts in 1517.

Please consider singing with the Easter Choir this season! Our practices will be each Wednesday in Lent from 7:00-7:30 p.m. Come for as many of them as you can, and then join us for as many of the Holy Week services as you would like: Palm Sunday, April 9; Maundy Thursday, April 13; Good Friday, April 14; and any (or all!) of the Easter Sunday Services on April 16: 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00 a.m. Contact me with any questions you may have, but please come and sing with us!

Two upcoming events will enhance your appreciation of the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Church which we celebrate in 2017. On Sunday, March 19, at 4:00 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, the National Lutheran Choir will sing a concert featuring Bach’s Cantata based on “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” And on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. here at TLC we will have a dramatization of Martin Luther’s wife Katie performed by actor Pati Kachel.
