 Care Mail Crafters

Care Mail Crafters started as a small group a few years ago when an  emphasis on small group ministry began at TLC. The group brought  together women, some who had never met before, with a love of  “crafting.”

While the group makes a variety of note cards for the church, their main focus is to:
  • Make and send cards to people in our congregation who are homebound, grieving, ill, or in need of extra care and concern.
  • The cards are a way for the recipient to know that they belong to our congregation—to know that they are thought of.
  • Care Mail Crafters provides the group a way to use their talents to serve others—as one member put it, “to show care, concern and  commitment to our fellow members at TLC.”

For more information about TLC's Care Mail Crafters please call the church office at 952-884-2364.

The K3P3 (Knit 3, Purl 3) ministry team of TLC is a group of  knitters and crochet-ers who meet once a month on Thursdays to create  practical and beautiful shawls which surround the recipients with God’s  love, as well as care and love from our faith community. Some also create shawls on their own time and bring to church once finished.

   Bloomington Meals On Wheels

The Meals On Wheels America is the oldest and  largest national organization composed of and representing local,  community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 U.S. states, as well  as the U.S. Territories. These local programs are our MOWA Members.

Bloomington Meals on Wheels is a non-profit service that delivers hot, nutritious, mid-day meals to people who are elderly or disabled, home-bound and unable to manage their own meal preparation.  TLC supports Meals on Wheels by providing drivers who deliver the meals once every six weeks. TLC also supports Meals on Wheels with a financial contribution which helps cover the cost of meals for residents who cannot afford to do so themselves. The meals are picked up at St. Stephen Lutheran Church at 84th and France at 11:00 am.  It is a very flexible volunteer opportunity as drivers are contacted by a coordinator to determine their availability.
  Thursday Workmen

Several years ago TLC members Roy Shemanek, Dal Bjerke, Vern Christenson and Don Jacobson came up with the idea of gathering a group of retired TLC  disciples to meet weekly to do odd jobs around the building and grounds.  The “Thursday Workmen” group was born.

The Thursday Workmen volunteers perform hundreds of tasks for TLC, including (but not limited to): setting up and or taking down tables and chairs, building the new fence on the south edge of the property, painting, shampooing  carpets, changing lights, tiling around the water fountains, installing cupboards and counters, tiling of floors and walls, building shelves for storage areas, constructing a stage in youth room, planting grass, trimming trees and hedges, the siding project on the North side.

Thursday Workmen volunteers have saved the church hundreds of thousands of dollars.  They are an amazing, talented, and fun bunch with whom to work.  If interested in working with them, call the church office at 952-884-2364.
