Minnesota Food Share - VEAP

Are you 'giving up' something for Lent?  How about 'giving away' instead?

Let's call it, 40 Days of Giving.

A can of soup on March 1, a package of muffin mix on March 2, a can of tuna on March 3 and so on… maybe 40 tubes of toothpaste or 40 boxes of pasta. Select one item each day and bring them to worship on Sunday or Wednesday each week.

If there are children in your home, include them in deciding what to give and help fill the VEAP boxes at both entrances.

March is Minnesota Food Share month and VEAP is the Mission of the Month for TLC. The food pantry at VEAP averages 125-140 appointments each day!
The need is great.

40 days-40 items to share.

An easy way to give back and make a difference!

BWCA - Boundary Waters Canoe Trips
  • June 25 thru July 1 - High schoolers with adult guides.
  • July 23 thru July 20 - High schoolers with adult guides.
  • August 15 thru 22 - Wilderness Canoe Base Family work/play camp.
Located in Northeastern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) has a million acres of wilderness, with over 1,000 pristine lakes and streams, and over 1500 miles of canoe routes.  It is considered by some as the most beautiful wilderness they have ever seen.  National Geographic named it one of 50 Destinations of a Lifetime.  In other words, an adventure you do not want to miss. The BWCA is a true wilderness experience, without motors, no electricity, no telephone lines, and no roads to the inner lakes. Each season has its own unique characteristics, making them wonderful times to visit the Boundary Waters and its surrounding communities of Ely, Gunflint, Grand Marais, Isabella/Finland, and Crane Lake.

Help TLC let its Light
Shine and be Green!

We are in the process of changing out fluorescent bulbs to LED, especially in areas where the lights are on constantly.  This will not only save in energy and electricity costs, but the time and cost required in replacing bulbs that go out frequently and are difficult to dispose of.  A minimum of 80 bulbs are needed at $9.00 each.  Pay for one or ten!  A parishioner, who wishes to remain anonymous, will match dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.  Please use the gold envelopes in the pews noting LED Bulbs.

Wednesdays at 7pm in Fellowship Hall
March thru April during Lent there will be no Coffee & Conversation Meetings

Carpool Minister: Know someone who needs a ride to TLC?  There are a number of TLC members who would love to attend services but are unable to because of lack of transportation.  "Carpool Ministers" will be matched with those in need of a ride based on location and preferred worship time.  Contact Pastor Arthur with questions.

Needed: Confirmation PARENTS to help with acolyting program. Acolytes are in need of someone to help them robe, and show them what to do the Sundays they acolyte.  There will be written instructions and someone to tutor you in the the procedure.  If you would be willing to meet your child's confirmation group 15-minutes prior to their assigned service; get them "robed" and remind them of what to do, TLC would be happy to hear from you.  Please contact Pastor Arthur or Youth & Family Minister, Ben Cherland at your earliest convenience.

In 2015, members of 9,300 congregations in the United States and Caribbean gave $1.75 billion in regular offerings to support ELCA ministries in their local communities and worldwide.

When members give through their congregations, a percentage of that money is then shared with the local synod and the national churchwide organization.

Click and watch this 5-minute video that demonstrates the path your offering takes, from the offering plate to the world.

These groups welcome new folks at  any time.
